2 Stars Ehh….
I wanted something for my garage out in the back yard, thought this would be great since there is no power out there. The light works fine, for now, but it is bovious that it is not constructed well at all. It is no very bright, but enough so you don’t trip over stuff. It was very easy to install, and yes, they should have given instructions as to what to do with the metal rod. Took me a minute to figure out that it is an optional brace for the solar panel. If it cost any more, I would pay for the shipping to return it. I would NOT buy another one from this company, but DO PROMOTE the use of solar power in any way possible.
5 Stars Solar light
I purchased this light to put in our outhouse at camp in Upper Michigan.
We do not have electricity at camp and I thought this would be worth a try to get some light. Installed it this summer and it has been working fine since then. On the low setting , 5 LED’s, it gives off enough light to take care of business and even read by. The high setting, 10 LED, is better to read by and plently light to light up the outhouse. I was so pleased with how it work I purchased a second on for the storage shed.
3 Stars Decent and convenient
The light isn’t the brightest but it serves its purpose. The package was a little beat up and there was a crack on the light. Since the light works and it was only cosmetic I kept the unit. I have it in my closet since I don’t have any lights there. Having an older house I drilled a hole through the wall so I can attach the solar cell(mounted on my window)to the light inside my closet. The only thing that really bugs me is the angled adapter that plugs into the light. This made it difficult for me and I had to make a larger hole than what I expected to get the power cable through. I figure that if I re-build my room I can install this unit in my shed at a later time.
4 Stars Hit or miss
I can see why there is a dichotomy with the ratings. We purchased two of these for our detached garage. One of the lights gives off a relatively bright light, enough to find one’s way around with ease at night. The other light was not as bright. The light has a hi-lo switch, and even on the ‘hi’ setting, the dud-light gave off only a dim glow. We did not return it for another light because after the hastle of installing this light with the solar panel on the roof, it didn’t seem that important to us. For future purchasers, remember to give it a test run before installing.
1 Star Still in the dark
This was a disappointing purchase. First of all, nowhere either in the ad or on the package does it iindicate how much light it gives off. Second, my 10 x 10 shed is still relatively dark.

It illuminate the backyard and at night when there’re no lights turned on for outside illumination, these solar lights indicate that there are in fact garden and show some identifying marker where the boundary of the garden is. Other than that, it’s not enough illumination to use it as to light up any area. It’s not bright enough. Flimsy construction and made of thin metal and plastic and glossy paint. Good for the money though. Buy this package if you want to save money. Other products online are sold single pole at a time and those are fraudulent and will cost you more.

Ordered 15 of these for my back yard. All lights get tons of direct sun (arizona sun) and yet they flicker and go out after 2-4 hours during the night. Not to mention that the clear plastic bits have turned a stained yellow after less than 8 months. Housings are durable and metal beautiful, but if lights don’t work , well whats the use? Not recommended

5 Stars Contemporary - very chic and sleek
These lights are very contemporaty and large. They have a blue-white light (typical solar light) but look great day and night. Just enough light to see, but not ruin night vision. The light points down, so great for stairs and pointing out features. They mount easily, just need a drill and level. They need to be in direct sunlight for min of 5-6 hours per day to be effective. I would consider buying more of these, or other lights or products from SoHo Decor. Delivery was very prompt.
5 Stars Amazingly bright for solar lights…
These babies put out a lot of light for solar - probably due to the higher-quality solar panel and the THREE batteries (rather than the usual one). The build quality is average - mostly plastic with a stainless-steel cover basically glued on. Two of the 4 I ordered had minor separation of the lower steel panel surrounding the lens, which did not harm the function and was barely noticeable.
Anyway, in terms of light output these kick a$# on any of the Malibu lights I’ve seen/purchased, though don’t expect them to replace your porch light. I mounted my four evenly spaced along the back of the houseat about knee level, and they light the ground very nicely. In my opinion they are not attrative enough to mount anywhere near eye-level, except perhaps on a fence post. I did mount them where they would get plenty of morning sun, but can’t speak for how they’ll do in more shaded areas.

I bought a pair and put them up myself …a great DIY item that is eco-friendly. I bought another pair for the back yard. They are great!

Follow the instructions and let them charge for a few days. They are very easy to mount. They are not spot light bright, but give off enough light to prove very useful & the best thing is that they don’t use any electricity. They are just bright enough to illuminate over my 800 square foot back yard patio.

I ordered two packs (4 lamps). Three work and look nice (I recommend these lamps). Unfortunately, one came broken. That’s why I only gave it 3 stars.
